The statistics was about the decreasing 14-year olds, which could speak a foreign language at GCSE level.
In relation to the change at 2004, where a foreign language become optional in British schools.
It was published in December 13th, 2006 in "The Economist".
Numbers are count in thousands. The time line goes from 1994 to 2006. It is titled with "Non, nein,no"
At first you can see the thre maior spoken foreign languages French, German and Spanish.
While spanisch is increasing slowly, German decreases and French is in a free fall.
The French graph is stable from 1994 to 2004, after the change it looses hundredthousand.
The Other languages are geting more over the time bout it increases in a very tini way.
In the summ spoaken foreign languages are decreasing since the change.
