Why not just re-write requests to the local HTTP gateway? That way you don't have trouble with needing to rename files after getting, etc.

this should work fine!

why an extra apt-transport-ipfs? because you can highlite it as a different protocoll but it depends on you how to write your source.list :D

but actualy im thinking to focus on a fast ipfs-gateway & mirror setup and use the http gateway. At home i also have a central ipfs gateway for all my devices.
